Global Beacon School
We are a non-traditional multi-age school. We do not exist to complete with the current public school model or other traditional classroom setting. We consider our school to be a hybrid-Montessori school, meaning that we follow the Montessori pedagogy and philisophy, but it is not the only method we incorroporate.
Our mission is to train-up a child in the way he should go, so that when he is old, he will not depart from it. This includes teaching and modeling social, emotional, relational, physical, spiritual, and academic lessons to grow the whole child.
We want to challenge students who graduate from our program to think outside the box, know themselves deeply, and trust their abilities to make decisions for their lives. We trust that through modeling and teaching, the students who have been with our school will understand they are created with a purpose unique to each individual. They should leave GBS knowing and celebrating their strengths while recognizing and working on their weaknesses. our students will graduate from our program ready for what the world has to offer and will be functioning, productive members of society who understand their interconnectedness ot the entire world around them.
Students will lead adults in what they are ready to learn and when they are ready to learn.
Students cannot and will not be "forced" to complete tasks. Students will be encouraged to participate in lessons and will be expected to try "hard things" for the sake of growth.
Students will have freedom to choose certain work; this does not mean students will be free to do nothing all day.
Students who choose to play during the work period may be required to give up free playtime to accomplish work they chose not to do during the work period.
Teachers will present new information to individuals and small groups in appropriate time frames and according to student interest and the ages and stages.
Students will not be compared to each other, as each learns differently and has different strengths.
Communication will flow both ways between teachers and parents.
Play is an important part of learning. Outdoor play is often abundant and unstructured, giving students the opportunity to grow socially and physically.
Learning the love of Jesus and building character traits through biblical training is of high importance at GBS.
